Experienced Investigators Only

Atlas utilizes only seasoned, result-oriented surveillance investigators with a minimum of 10+ years of individual experience.

For mobile surveillance operations, investigators typically possess 10–12+ years of dedicated individual field experience.

We do not use junior or inexperienced investigators. Every case is handled by professionals who understand the nuances, risks, and discipline required to conduct effective surveillance.

Specialized Case Assignment

Investigators are assigned based on their specific area of expertise.

For example, domestic and infidelity investigations are handled exclusively by investigators experienced in sensitive, personal matters. Corporate, insurance, and high-risk surveillance assignments are handled by investigators with relevant backgrounds in those environments.

This ensures that each investigation is executed with the appropriate level of discretion, awareness, and tactical judgment.

Discretion & Counter-Surveillance Awareness

Discretion is critical to the success of any surveillance operation. Atlas investigators are trained to identify and respond to signs of surveillance awareness, including common counter-surveillance behavioural patterns such as:

• Repeated mirror checks
• Erratic or evasive driving
• Circling or route testing
• Sudden stops or directional changes

Where a subject displays signs of suspicion, investigators will de-escalate, withdraw, or request additional support as necessary.

Under no circumstances is an investigation forced to the point of compromise. Proper damage control is applied to preserve the integrity of the case and allow surveillance to continue effectively at a later time if required.

While surveillance inherently carries risk, Atlas prioritizes long-term success over short-term exposure.

Equipment & Technology

Atlas utilizes modern, high-performance surveillance equipment to ensure effective evidence capture across varying environments.

This includes:

• Long-range digital video equipment (handheld camcorders)
• DSLR and low-light camera systems for night surveillance
• Discreet recording devices for close-proximity environments

In situations where overt recording is not appropriate, discreet equipment is deployed to capture evidence without alerting the subject.

All equipment is selected based on operational requirements and industry standards, ensuring both effectiveness and discretion.

Single vs. Two-Investigator Operations

Surveillance conditions vary, and certain environments require additional resources.

In complex or high-risk situations — such as dense urban areas (e.g., downtown Toronto), highly mobile subjects, or surveillance-conscious individuals — a second investigator may be recommended.

Two-investigator teams improve continuity, reduce the risk of losing the subject, and significantly lower the likelihood of compromise.

Atlas provides honest, experience-based recommendations where additional support is required to achieve successful results.
